Building Trust: 3 Essential Shifts for Leaders

1️⃣ Commanding to Inspiring:

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” - John Quincy Adams

RIPPLE EFFECT TIP: Share a vision for your team bigger than what they can see for themselves.

2️⃣ Criticizing to Acknowledging:

“Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.” – Margaret Cousins

RIPPLE EFFECT TIP: Don’t just offer fleeting compliments. Share thoughtful acknowledgements that speak to each person’s character.

3️⃣ Blaming to Owning:

“You are not a failure until you start blaming others for your mistakes.” - John Wooden

RIPPLE EFFECT TIP: Beyond just owning your mistakes, humbly ask yourself how you might take responsibility when your team isn’t producing the results you’d like.

Practice implementing these shifts little by little, and over time, you’ll notice stronger connection and increased trust with the people you work with (and in your life!).
