Chris Rollins Kicks Off NYS SHRM 2024 Conference

What an amazing time kicking off the 2024 SHRM NYS Conference in Albany this past weekend. With the theme of "The Art of HR" it was an honor to set the tone for the event and create a meaningful impact with The Ripple Effect.

A few key takeaways:

🌊 It's our job as leaders to Ripple Effect our thinking. To move away from a Siloed Mindset toward a Ripple Effect Mindset where we have a keen awareness that our words, actions and decisions have far reaching consequences beyond what's immediately apparent.

🌊 The work of HR is highly nuanced. While it may seem black and white, so much of what is required is navigating the gray space in between. That is why HR is an ART. We don't need science to tell us to be kind to people. We don't need science to tell us to be inclusive. We don't need science to show us the impact of empathy. Artists do the work because they KNOW it makes a difference in the world

🌊 Environment matters. In a frozen pond, there is no Ripple Effect. Be the one who starts making cracks in the ice. The one who thaws out the pond. Start by making small cracks where you can. Then find others who can join you, making a crack over here and over there. Together, you'll create an impact and build momentum greater than what was possible alone.

Over 50 handwritten postcards were collected as part of The Ripple Effect Leadership Postcard Project, which have now been mailed out across the country.
